Schools from across Tharaka Nithi county had the opportunity to showcase their talent on stage, representing their respective sub-counties at the County Drama Festivals held at Chuka Boys from 14th-16th March, 2023.
In the Play category, Makuri Girls 'Emancipation' won first place, with Muthambi Girls 'Kero' and Chogoria Girls 'Umbrella In The Storm' taking first and second runners up respectively.
Makuri Girls also won the Best Production, Best Play in English, Best Costume and Decor and the Best Production awards.
Muthambi Girls with their play 'Kero' won the Best Play in Kiswahili.
In the Creative Cultural Dance category, 'Njeri' by Ndagoni Girls emerged the Winning Dance, with 'Kathomi' by Tharaka Boys and 'Mtandao' by Ikuu Girls taking second and third respectively.
Ndagoni Girls also won Best Costume and Decor, Best Instrumentation and Best Choreography awards.
Tharaka Boys won the Best Male Dancers award, while the Best Female Dancers award went to Ndagoni Girls.
The Best Male Soloist award went to Eric Munene from Tharaka Boys while the Best Female Soloist award went to Ann Faith Kinyua from Ikuu Girls.
In the Solo Verse category, 'Sweet Melody' by Nturiri Boys won Best Solo Verse, with Ikuu Boys and Muthambi Girls ranked first and second runners up respectively.
In Narrative, Muthambi Girls won first place, with Ikuu Boys and Materi Girls ranked second and third respectively.
In Choral Verse, 'Macho' by Iruma Girls won first place as Chogoria Girls and Ndagoni Girls took second and third positions in the festival.
Iruma Girls also won Best Verse in Kiswahili, Best Costume and Best Directed Verse awards.
Kajiunduthi High were named Modern Dance winners, defeating Nturiri Boys and Chogoria Girls who ranked second and third respectively.
Kamaguna Secondary School won Best Spoken Word, while Ndagoni Girls 'Kanesa' took Best Comedy.
Drama powerhouse Ikuu Boys trounced fierce competitors Chogoria Girls in the French Category and will represent the county at the regional festivals with French Play, French Solo and French Choral.
The regional festivals will take place in Machakos County from 20th March.
