Nigerian billionaire and Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote was among the VIPs who attended President William Ruto's inauguration ceremony today.
Dangote sat behind Chief Justice Martha Koome at Kasarani Stadium, joining other guests present at the dais.
The Nigerian tycoon has on previous occasions tried to invest in Kenya where he planned to build a cement factory, but in a previous media interview said that his efforts to extend his business empire were halted after being put off by corrupt top government officials, describing them as more corrupt than Nigerians.
Being a seasoned businessman with requisite experience in the world of economics, Dangote's fortune is primarily built from his company, Dangote Cement which started as a small business venture.
Dangote is the richest person in Africa with a net worth of 12.7 billion USSD (2022) as recorded by Forbes.
He is also the founder and current chairman and CEO Dangote Group, one of the vast industrial enterprises in west Africa.
He has a well-diversified and fully integrated industrial conglomerate, with an interest span in a range of sectors across Africa.
Dangote visited Kenya in September 2013 as part of high- powered delegation that had accompanied president Goodluck Jonathan.
In 2014, Ruto and Dangote met in Nigeria, when the then deputy president had visited Dangote's cement plant.
The tycoon has recently had an intent again to open his business venture in Kenya.
He commented on being hopeful to start a robust business enterprise in the country immediately once he gets all the requisite documents.
