Residents, members of the clergy and political leaders convened at Itugururu in Igambang’ombe ward for the burial of the late Bishop Mary Muthoni, founder and director of Tumaini Children’s Home known to many as Mama Tumaini.
H.E the First Lady Tharaka-Nithi County Margaret Muthoni Njuki, eulogized Mama Tumaini as a loving and hardworking person who dedicated her life to supporting needy children in the society having partnered and worked together.
“Mama Tumaini is like family and that is why we are here today. She opened her doors to everyone and as a family, we are ready to continue helping the needy children in the society as she did”- H.E the First Lady, Margaret Muthoni Njuki.
Addressing electrical challenges facing Tumaini Children’s Home, the First Lady assured residents that the issue would be solved through the office of the Governor and that of the area MP Patrick Munene.
Tharaka-Nithi Woman Representative Beatrice Nkatha appreciated local leaders led by Governor Muthomi Njuki and MP Patrick Munene for supporting and raising funds towards the construction of Tumaini Children’s Home and asked leaders who made promises to support bereaved families to ensure they followed up their pledges.
Chuka-Igambang’ombe Member of Parliament Patrick Munene promised to go back and support the children left behind by identifying their needs, celebrating Mama Tumaini as a mother, a personal and family friend going on to assure residents that her legacy would live on.
“Mama Tumaini has brought up these kids in the ways of the lord and we are sure they are in good hands. Let us come back and identify all their need but as you promise to come back let it be a promise that will work”- MP Patrick Munene.
Marimanti MCA Susan Ngugi emphasized on the need to take care of children, acknowledging that in her recent years as a Child Officer she had witnessed that many children in the country had been neglected.
Speaking on behalf of MP aspirant Muthomi 810, his Personal Assistant Mwendwa Wambonnah called on the office of the Member of Parliament to ensure electricity is installed at Tumaini Children’s Home.
