MUSALIA TOURS MERU, HOPES TO CEMENT PRESIDENTIAL BID.

ANC Party Leader and presidential hopeful Musalia Mudavadi is in Meru County on a two-day visit at the invite of Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

Musalia's visit comes barely a week after Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka visited Tharaka Nithi County.

The two former vice presidents hope to cement their political bid come 2022 general elections.

"I want us to work together so that everybody in the 47 counties can get their rightful share of the national cake. We should be able to give the counties a minimum of 35% of the national revenue" - Musalia Mudavadi

Musalia on his Meru tour has hinted out some areas in the constitution need to be revisited and that they did not need a referendum such as the ward fund and further allocation of resources to the county governments which according to him are issues that can be delivered through goodwill and cooperation of Kenyans.

The ANC Party Leader went on to ask Kenyans to prepare for peaceful elections, saying toxic politics has no place in Kenya.

Farming in Meru more so that of the Miraa cash crop is one key element Musalia seeks to hold talks about, saying regional trade needs to be restructured to enable the Miraa business to pick up and reclaim its lost glory.

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi, while being hosted by ODM Party Leader and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to a delegate's function acknowledged that Meru and the larger Mt Kenya region would open its arms to presidential hopefuls in the 2022 general elections and that it would be after consultation that they will back the leader with the best interests for the people of Meru.
