Mt Kenya spokesman and Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and former UNCTAD secretary Mukhisa Kituyi on Tuesday held talks to discuss a new political coalition.
Speaking to the press after a closed-door meeting, the three who have all declared their bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 announced a coalition known as National Alliance for Change.
“We cannot change this country by doing things the same way. We must depart from our chaotic and divisive politics to chart a new path for Kenya” Speaker Muturi said.
Muturi who recently met with Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua is keen to unite leaders in a bid to popularize his 2022 race to statehouse.
“That is the reason I am in this conversation with my friends Prof Kibwana and Dr Kituyi. We will expand this to be as inclusive as possible so that we can take this country forward. We are ready.” -Justin Muturi.
Kibwana and Kituyi acknowledged that things needed to change in the country and that Kenya cannot compete with the rest of the world if it keeps doing things the same way.
The three leaders are now set to hold regular meetings with Karua expected to join the team.
