Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has addressed an outcry by members of the public in the county following long lines and poor service provisions at the Chuka Level 4 Hospital.
Speaking during the burial of his cousin James Njoka Kabinga at Mutaaruni PCEA Church, the governor acknowledged that the high numbers witnessed at the hospital was a result of patients seeking medical attention from neighboring counties of Meru and Embu.
“Patients who can’t receive medical services from their counties are flocking Chuka hospital. It would be wrong to shun them away based on boundaries. We need to walk together and assist them regardless of where they come from”, he said.
The governor, in his speech said his government was working on opening a new out patient department and hiring new nurses and doctors to help ease operations at the facility.

Governor Njuki went on to emphasize the need for early medical check-ups to those that knew their families had a history of conditions such as cancer and diabetes, saying early diagnosis was a major step that needed to be taken towards ensuring a better and healthier life.
Area MCA Justin Kithinji who had accompanied the governor thanked him for the seed distribution program and said the seeds would be a major boost in ensuring food security in the county.
The governor eulogized James Kabinga as a humble, peaceful and quiet man who was a teacher with a good heart.
