UDA SET TO FALL IF NJUKI REMAINS AT THE HELM, SAYS RAGWA AS HE SETS CLEAR HIS SENATORIAL CANDIDATURE

Former Tharaka Nithi Governor Samwel Mbae Ragwa has made public his decision to run for Senator as an Independent Candidate.

Speaking during a media press briefing on Friday at Chuka, the former Governor who lost UDA party primaries to Mwenda Gataya (MoFire) accused Governor Muthomi Njuki of interfering with the 14th April nomination exercise, saying Njuki’s role in the elections made it difficult for free and fair nominations.

Ragwa criticized Njuki for issuing statements and making it clear that candidates the governor supported were the ones to get party tickets and that his decision not to appeal the nominations was influenced by unfairness and power play at UDA by Njuki.

“If UDA continues to be led by Njuki then the party is sure to lose half its support in the county. If Njuki moves out then they will reclaim their position as the popular party in Tharaka Nithi. Muthomi Njuki will not be the Governor after the August polls and he should start the process of handing over government” – Samwel Ragwa

Mr Ragwa hinted on a possible merger with all Independent candidates, to rally their support behind a preferred candidate for the position of Governor saying they would hold a forum to discuss the way forward ahead of the general elections.
