PENINAH KAMBANJA: THE POLITICAL MOTHER OF THARAKA NITHI CONFIDENT SHE'S ON TRACK TO WIN ELECTION.

With her political career starting in 2013, Peninah Murungi Kambanja, has rose from a Human Resource Director to a seasoned politician over the years, with political undertones ranking her as the best suited candidate for the seat of Woman Representative in Tharaka Nithi County.

As the August polls fast approach, an election that brings with it enormous promises from political aspirants, her track record remains impressive, giving her an edge over her opponents as she identifies herself with the grassroots.

In her corporate experience that spans over 10 years, she has worked with blue-chip companies such as MSF-Belgium, Nation Media Group, Lordship Group, East African Cables, Karuturi Flowers and Bidco Africa.

Academically, Kambanja takes pride for qualifications in Bcom (Human Resource), Bcom (Banking and Finance) and an ongoing Masters of Sciences (Msc) in Human Resource at JKUAT.

In her first quest for Woman Representative in the 2013 general elections, Kambanja garnered 19,625 votes under the Unity Party of Kenya, placing her third after Beatrice Nkatha Nyaga and Mercy Kirito who got 49,550 and 36,657 votes respectively in an election that attracted 7 candidates.

In 2017, claims of election malpractice in Jubilee Party Primaries forced her to contest as an Independent Candidate, garnering 56,457 votes and coming second to incumbent Woman Representative who garnered 93,205 votes in a hotly contested election.

The two-time aspirant seeks to work in a corruption free environment once elected, without limiting herself to oversight, legislation and representation promising to outsource funds from corporates and NGO’s across the world.

As a lobbyist, community leader and philanthropist, Kambanja has sponsored kids and teenage mothers to complete school, lobbied for wheelchairs and COVID 19 prevention materials through the Ambassador of US to Kenya Ambassador McCarter and provided 3 greenhouses worth Kshs 350,000 each to agribusinesses project in the county.

Working with MSF-Belgium, she pioneered and oversaw the provision of free ARV’s in the country.

She is currently supporting five mothers who have mentally unstable kids and has offered job opportunities to hundreds of county residents in the corporate profession.

Just like her name Kambanja, given to her by the Tharaka Nithi Community she believes she will be the first to make a good home for the residents in the county.

She will be contesting for the Woman Representative seat under the Jubilee Party.
