Tharaka Nithi Governor H.E Muthomi Njuki on Wednesday officially opened Chief Mbogori Bridge in Chogoria Ward, bringing the total of newly constructed bridges in the ward in his first term to 10.
The bridge, built at a cost of 6 million was among the 14 bridges set for construction under the County Integrated Development Plan, to replace wooden bridges that could break or get washed away during heavy rainfall making crossing a risky endeavor.
“This bridge will ease movement of fresh produce and shorten distances to enhance business activities and interactions. It will reduce the cost of transportation for tea, coffee and dairy farming. Since 2017, 10 bridges are complete in Chogoria Ward” – Governor Muthomi Njuki
The County Government of Tharaka Nithi under Governor Njuki has constructed over 30 bridges so far across the county. Among the bridges constructed in Chogoria Ward include Gantamathina bridge, Igogwa, Kiamujoro, Njogu ya Mureria, Gitare, Mutuguta and Chief Mbogori bridges.
