GOVERNOR NJUKI TO RUTO: DON’T SIDELINE KINDIKI.

Tharaka Nithi Governor H.E Muthomi Njuki on Sunday made public his dissatisfaction and disappointment after Kenya Kwanza Party Leader William Ruto announced Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his choice of running mate for the August 9 general elections.

Governor Njuki who had rallied support behind his Tharaka Nithi counterpart Senator Kithure Kindiki acknowledged that as of Saturday Kithure Kindiki was ranked as the best candidate to deputize Ruto, with reports that members of parliament had voted overwhelmingly for him after a daylong political standoff at Karen.

According to Governor Njuki, Gachagua proved more capable of delivering a huge voter turnout from Mt Kenya, which is the largest political bloc and ranks as the single biggest vote basket in the country, disqualifying Kithure Kindiki who comes from Mt Kenya East region.

“We are not pleased by the decision taken by Ruto not to name Senator Kithure Kindiki as his running mate for the August 9 polls. We are not comfortable with the decision but we must rally behind him and deliver a win for Kenya Kwanza” – Governor Muthomi Njuki

Njuki further asked DP Ruto not to sideline Kindiki and consider him for a powerful ministerial appointment once they form government.

DP Ruto while unveiling Rigathi Gachagua at Karen praised and thanked Senator Kithure Kindiki who was absent at the event, noting that he had brought a lot of passion to the contest.

“I want to thank my lawyer and friend Abraham Kithure Kindiki who became the runner up. Even though the current senator of Tharaka Nithi is not here with us now, he brought a lot of passion to this contest” – DP William Ruto

The news of Kindiki’s misfortune was not well received in his backyard, with residents in Tharaka Nithi County insisting they always supported candidates from Mt Kenya West and this was the perfect time for the West to return the favor.

Senator Kithure Kindiki had shelved his gubernatorial ambition in support of Ruto’s national campaigns and is yet to make a statement following the announcement.
