“HERE’S WHY I STUCK WITH UHURU”- GOVERNOR NJUKI

Months after the controversial 2017 general elections that saw the Jubilee government reclaim power for a second term with majority of its aspirants elected into office, came a political divorce that divided the majority party in government into two.

The bromance of the president and his deputy came to an end, leading to leaders shifting and dividing into two major camps.

Well, there was one politician who stood out as to not take a stand and that would be the Governor of Tharaka Nithi county, H.E Muthomi Njuki.

Years down the line, at the onset of 2022 politics, Njuki has finally opened up in what he claims was his hidden card of play in politics.

Speaking at Kibugua, Chuka Igambang’ombe constituency where he finalized the exercise of distributing equipment to youth groups, the governor publicly declared his support for President Uhuru saying he knew what he was doing and that his decisions were centered around benefitting the people of Tharaka Nithi all along.

“I know what I am doing. We were all voted in government through Jubilee. We were all behind Uhuru Kenyatta. We got somewhere and we got split. There’s no problem in leaving but one should ask themselves, who will eat the fruits of their hard gained efforts when they leave?” he said.

The governor went on to acknowledge that it was their staying with the president and supporting him that gave birth to awarding of projects like the MauMau roads.

Chuka Igambang’ombe has been awarded a spot, with the 12 Km Kibugua-Murigi road being chosen as a beneficiary for tarmacking.

Maara has also received a road through efforts by the area MP Kareke Mbiuki, a situation that has resulted to the governor questioning moves by some of the leaders in the county who have already ditched the government.

46 groups from the constituency benefitted from the youth empowerment program and the governor congratulated them for being the chosen few from vast applications across the county.

Njuki noted that the youth knew the strength of the community, with 22 out of the 46 being agriculture-oriented equipment.

“Youth are getting interested in digitizing agriculture to ease production. We want to hear success stories of rich youth in this county out of the youth empowerment program.” Governor Njuki

Youth groups can now use the equipment to get funds for operations by getting loans from SACCOS. The governor also asked them to use opportunities such as the Uwezo Fund. Youth Enterprise Fund, Women Enterprise Fund and the NGAAF to support their operations.
