JUBILEE ASPIRANTS CONDEMN VANDALISM OF CAMPAIGN POSTERS IN THARAKA NITHI.

Jubilee Party aspirants in the August general elections from Tharaka Nithi County have condemned the destruction of campaign posters and billboards in different parts of the county, warning their competitors to expect a fierce campaign as the polls draw closer.

The aspirants and party officials who spoke at Iriani in Karingani Ward during a meet-the-people tour campaign said the party would not bow down to intimidation, accusing their political opponents of orchestrating the destruction.

“The people of Tharaka Nithi have already made their decision. The people know who they will vote for and destruction of campaign posters will not change the mind of the voters. The people believe in us and are ready to change the leadership of this great county” – Mercy Kirito, Chuka/Igambang’ombe MP candidate

Woman Representative aspirant under Jubilee Peninah Kambanja raised her concerns over the recent vandalism of her posters witnessed in Marimanti, saying campaign materials were expensive and urged residents to resist from being used by politicians to cause destruction.

“I am a victim of poster and campaign materials vandalism, especially in Marimanti where my opponent has mobilized residents to destroy my posters. This act is unacceptable and goes against IEBC election and campaign guidelines. Their actions should be greatly condemned” – Peninah Kambanja

Tharaka Nithi Jubilee Party Campaign Coordinator Hon. Petkay Miriti drummed up support for party candidates in the county, sensitizing residents on the importance of voting saying if they failed to exercise their right to vote the county would end up with unworthy leaders.

Mr. Miriti called for peaceful campaigns and elections adding the party was ready and prepared for the polls.
