KCPE candidate who scored 387 marks in plea for fees, Risks missing out on National School slot.

A KCPE candidate who scored 387 marks says he could miss his Form One slot at Meru School, in Eastern Region.

Oscar Kithinji, was optimistic of joining his dream school but his grandmother, a resident of Mubukuro in Chuka/Igambangombe Constituency in Tharaka Nithi County cannot afford his fees, to join the prestigious national school.

His father Geoffrey Munene Njogu, a casual laborer who returned home months to the national examinations says that unless well-wishers intervene, his son may fail to report to school or settle for a day school within their location.

Oscar, who was a pupil at Mubukuro Primary School was left under the care of his grandmother aged three, with his mother leaving her matrimonial home and forcing his father, Mr Munene to seek job opportunities far from their home to support the family.

According to Oscar’s grandmother, applications to Equity’s Wings To Fly and KCB Scholarships were denied and the little money earned in the family cannot sustain his secondary school fees.

“Oscar is a clever and sharp student who has been top of his class since he started his education. I am appealing to well-wishers to help in any way to ensure he joins his dream school so that in future, he will be able to improve our lives and support himself” – Oscar’s Grandmother

Mr Munene, who does menial jobs to support Oscar’s education called upon elected leaders in the county to actualize Oscar’s dream, saying he deserved a slot at Meru School which he now risked losing due to lack of fees.

Oscar’s dream is to one day become a Civil Engineer.
