Shock has gripped Kabururu village in Igambang’ombe ward after a 40-year-old man identified as Kimathi Njoka brutally killed his lover and daughter before fleeing.
While narrating the event, the family of 27-year-old Jacinta Murugi, now deceased, explained how they found the mutilated body of Jacinta at her home compound slashed severally with a panga.
The daughter also died on the spot after her head was slashed off during the ordeal, as her body lay few metres from her mother.
According to Ireri Njue, Jacinta’s father, the relationship and courtship between his daughter and the assailant was something he was opposed to and that had led to a separation between the two before.
Jacinta, who has been described by residents as a humble and hardworking lady had recently gotten back with her lover, who she met before joining college. Her dreams of pursuing higher education would eventually be squashed after she got pregnant with their daughter who was in PP1 before the gruesome murder.
The assailant is still at large, with witnesses reporting he escaped into the vast 700-acre university land in the area.
DCC Fred Masinjila while confirming the event said a search was already in place to flush him out.
The residents are now demanding speedy action towards the incident, to see the perpetrator is caught saying they are now fearing for their lives.
Security in the area has been a subject matter, with the residents requesting a police post in the area built to help curb cases of insecurity with the nearest posts being Kamwimbi, Itugururu and Kajuki.
