Tharaka Nithi gubernatorial hopeful Dr. Mzalendo Kibunjia and aspiring Chuka/Igambang’ombe MP Muthomi 810 joined Muslim faithful at the Chuka Jamia Mosque in celebrating Eid ul-Fitr on Monday to signify the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
Speaking during the event, Muthomi 810 asked Kenyans to remain as brothers and sisters, and maintain peace ahead of the August polls.
“Let us shun from discrimination based on religion, color, race or tribe. I would rather lose the elections if my win is to be achieved through bloodshed or loss of life” – Muthomi 810
Chuka Muslim Society Trust Chairman Sudi Omar in his speech highlighted challenges they faced as a community, calling attention to issues of land grabbing, building of the Imam’s residence, inclusion in government appointments, education bursaries and creation of job opportunities.
Dr Mzalendo Kibunjia acknowledging that Muslims constituted 11% of Kenya’s population promised a cabinet slot for a Muslim in his government once elected and oversee the construction of the Imam’s residence at Chuka. He also assured the Muslim faithful that he would see to it that grabbed land is returned under his leadership.
“Once elected, my government will deal with those involved in grabbing land that belongs to the Muslim community. As a government, I will ensure justice prevails and I can assure you the grabbed land will be returned to the rightful owners” – Mzalendo Kibunjia
He also promised to construct five industries across the county in his first term to create job opportunities.
Imam Abdul Nassir Mugambi and Ustadh Akida Rajab joined in calling for peace across the country.
