Commissioning of power supply for market stalls in Maara and Chuka became the last agenda of 2021 for Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, who later led and witnessed New Year fireworks at the newly opened official governor’s residence at Kajuki.
Speaking at Chogoria, the governor took the opportunity to defend his scorecard, saying in 2017 he had asked for an opportunity to transform the county and indeed he had been tested and proven to deliver.
The governor was quick to note that the electrification program began during his term in office as an MP, under the condition that the county government would cater for the electricity bills but faced a major challenge in maintenance as KPLC insisted they were the only ones authorized to carry out maintenance activities.
Traders who used lamps and candles will now benefit from tower lighting in major parts of the county and market stall electrification programs in efforts to transform the county into a 24-hour business economic model.
“My outmost gratitude and happiness in 2021 has been the successful beautification of our stalls, markets and towns” – Governor Muthomi Njuki
