Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has hit out at critics accusing him of insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta, with remarks on the head of state and his affiliation to UDA seemingly causing a stir between the Governor and government.
Speaking on Monday at Kambandi in Mugwe ward where he led the issuance of certified seeds to farmers, Njuki openly declared he would not bow down to intimidation and threats, boldly daring the state to arrest him incase they found him guilty.
“Saying Uhuru has neglected our county can’t be termed as insult to the President. I dare tell those accusing me of insulting the President to come and arrest me. We elected Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto while they had cases at the Hague, if I am arrested, I will be elected by the people of Tharaka Nithi while in custody” – Governor Muthomi Njuki.
In fresh attacks on Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Njuki termed him as a political reject, losing to Kiraitu Murungi in the hotly contested gubernatorial election.
On Friday last week, Munya accused Njuki of trying to sabotage his meeting at Chuka Town, by locking access to Chuka Picnic Grounds and barring his helicopter to land at the recreation facility renovated by the county government.
Munya, who has been trying to rally support for Azimio la Umoja movement led by Raila Odinga has continued to drum up support for Former Chuka University VC Professor Erastus Njoka.
“We are no longer governed as the larger Meru region. Let Munya know he can’t dictate our political affiliation and force Raila Odinga on us like they have done with Meru County” – Governor Muthomi Njuki.
Governor Njuki went on to champion for the bottom-up economic model led by Deputy President William Ruto, asking Uhuru to stick to and embrace his end of the bargain, when he endorsed Ruto for presidency.
