Governor Muthomi Njuki has yet again hit out at government officials trying to impose support for their preferred presidential candidate in the August 2022 polls.
Speaking at Mucwa, Tharaka-Nithi County where he officially opened a health centre, Njuki openly declared that the people had a democratic right to vote in leaders of their choice, and it was time national leaders left them to decide for themselves.
“There’s no one who will decide for us who to support in the coming polls. If any leader has exhausted their term let them leave and let us decide for ourselves. How can one plan for us during his exit?” – Governor Muthomi Njuki
The first time Governor is set to declare publicly his presidential candidate choice on 3rd March with speculations indicating his allegiance to UDA Party, affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto.
Mucwa dispensary becomes the latest health centre to be opened by the governor, bringing the total of new health facilities in the county since 2017 to 35.
The facility has offered its services to over 1,637 residents, reducing the patient influx at Chuka level 4 hospital and other health facilities in the area.
Governor Njuki called on residents to embrace the new facility and take care of services offered such as reproductive health services, extending the invite to men who tend to shy away from such programs.
“To improve our healthcare services, we have strived to ensure no resident travels more than 5 km for treatment in the county. The number of our health centres has increased from 75 in 2017 to 109 facilities this year, with Marimanti, Magutuni and Chuka hospitals making tremendous steps in improving health services” – Governor Njuki
The Chuka level 4 hospital is set to launch officially its Out Patient Wing on 3rd March this year, with reports already suggesting DP Ruto as the chief guest for the opening ceremony.
