An accident at Njuri involving a Miraa vehicle and a Bodaboda has caused the death of one person along the Meru-Nairobi highway, with another critically injured and losing a leg.
The Bodaboda rider has since been rushed to Chuka Level 4 Hospital, and the body of his passenger, an elderly man moved to the morgue of the same facility.
Bodaboda operators have been asked to ride with caution, with Miraa drivers cautioned against over speeding and asked to take safety precautions on the road.
“Bodaboda riders should in addition to their skills be able to use common sense on the road. This particular incident shows the rider was well within traffic rules but was hit from behind by the Miraa vehicle. Miraa drivers should also respect other road users and exercise discipline” - Alex Mugambi, Tharaka Nithi Fire and Rescue Department.
The Miraa vehicle registration number KCY 371Z was ferrying Miraa to Nairobi.
