Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Beverly Opwora has assured parents and candidates sitting for KCPE and KCSE examinations across the county that the national government, education officials and security officers are well prepared for the examination exercise.
Speaking on Friday at Chuka University where education stakeholders and national government officials met for final preparations, the County Commissioner asked them to ensure all registered students from the 7 Sub-Counties sit for examinations since the government had catered for all expenses.
Opwora went on to caution individuals planning to engage in exam malpractices saying strong action would be taken against them and that measurers from the Ministry of Education and KNEC were already in place to ensure smooth running of exam activities.
“As the Chairperson in the County Security Committee, I would like to guarantee our parents, teachers and candidates that we are prepared to ensure the exam is well protected to avoid any leakages and irregularities” – Beverly Opwora
Over 14,000 candidates in the county are set to sit for KCPE examinations from Monday as KCSE records over 11,000 candidates.
According to Opwora, unauthorized personnel will not be allowed to access examination centres to give students a friendly environment to sit for exams.
She went on to caution against drug and substance abuse among students with the aim of passing examinations.
With some candidates scheduled to sit for their examinations in schools set as hosting centres, the County Director of Education Bridget Wambua asked headteachers and principals to ensure their candidates are ready and reach examination centres on time.
County Police Commander Ali Nuno in his remarks acknowledged that requisite arrangements were in place. He assured maximum security in examination centres saying they will mitigate issues as they arise.
