Tharaka-Nithi County has announced its partnership with KCB in the recruitment of 2jiajiri beneficiaries for the year 2022.
The flagship programme under KCB Foundation seeks to create jobs and wealth through targeted skills development in the informal sector and targets entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 years.
Through the programme, 2jiajiri is set to partner with vocational training institutes in the county to offer a 3–6-month professional course training to the beneficiaries after which KCB will conduct a 12–18-month programme to equip the entrepreneurs with business development skills.
Speaking at the signing of a MOU between the two parties, Governor Muthomi Njuki stated that his government would support the programme by paying interests for loans offered to the youth in the county and that it would chip in and contribute in paying fees needed for the training in the vocational training institutes.
“We have signed a MOU that will allow Tharaka-Nithi County to partner with KCB to get loans to fund the youth through their businesses and also offer professional and business skills. As a county, we will help the youth pay loan interests to maximize their capital and pay fees for training in our vocational training institutes.”- Governor Njuki.
The Governor urged the youth to take the opportunity and register as beneficiaries, extending the invite to youth who benefited from the county empowerment programme last year but lacked funds to run and expand their businesses.
KCB through its representatives expressed their gratitude to the county, having agreed to join hands to invest in the youth who have a lot of potential if given the right skills and support.
